    Em 1989, Roland Grapow estreou no Helloween substituindo o guitarrista Kai Hansen, ficou por lá até quando o álbum The Dark Ride saiu em 2000. Em 2001, junto ao baterista Uli Kusch ele deu vida ao Masterplan, que agora em 2013 está lançando seu quinto álbum de estúdio, após uma reformulação no line-up da banda.

    Nesta entrevista exclusiva ao Rock On Stage com Roland Grapow você poderá saber mais sobre os novos membros da banda, a saber Rick Altzi nos vocais, Martin Marthus Skaroupka na bateria e Jari Kainulainen no baixo, as gravações do cd Novum Initium, das lembranças dos shows no Brasil, os guitarristas que mais o influenciaram e muito mais.... confiram...

Rock On Stage: Primeiro de tudo, gostaria de lhe perguntar sobre a reformulação da banda o que os novos membros adicionaram a música do Masterplan?
Roland Grapow: Eles acrescentam um muito sangue novo para a banda, temos uma linda formação e química com muito sentimento positivo.

Rock On Stage: Como foi a gravação do novo álbum Novum Initium, o que ele representa para a sua discografia e que motivos você aponta que este lançamento são tão especial ?
Roland Grapow: É tão especial por causa da mudança de formação, mas os principais compositores continuam os mesmos Axel ( Mackenrott tecladista ) e eu ... Mas, eu amo o impacto dos novos membros, todo mundo são um grandes fãs do Masterplan e querem apresentar o seu melhor para a banda.

Rock On Stage: Keep Your Dream Alive foi o primeiro single e você fez um clipe antes do lançamento do álbum, existe alguma razão para esta faixa ser a escolhida?
Roland Grapow: É a mais simples das músicas ... você pode escolher mais light ou mais brutal uma .... por isso escolher a light.

Rock On Stage: Qual tem sido o impacto do novo álbum para os fãs e críticos em geral?
Roland Grapow: Muito grande e alguns muito ruins ... mas nós não nos importamos, um verdadeiro fã sempre gosta da música de sua banda.

Rock On Stage: Se eu tenho certeza que você, Masterplan fez o primeiro show com a nova formação no Bang Your Head Fest, conte-nos um pouco sobre como foi essa apresentação?
Roland Grapow: Não, fizemos alguns shows antes .. mas está melhor a cada festival até agora ... agora estamos finalmente começando a nossa turnê na Europa.

Rock On Stage: Quando você começou se comprava mais música do que hoje, e agora com Mp3 / Facebook / Internet, o que você acha que mudou na forma como uma banda deve trabalhar para viver de música?
Roland Grapow: Hmmm eu acho que o Masterplan começou 2003, mas não era o melhor momento, mas muito melhor do que agora .... e sim fica cada vez mais difícil ... eu senti a diferença na minha carteira :(

Rock On Stage: Você já tocou no Brasil junto com Gamma Ray, há alguns anos, e o que você se lembra do nosso país? Alguns momentos bons ou engraçados que você viveu aqui? E uma questão importante, quando veremos o Masterplan tocar aqui de novo?
Roland Grapow: É engraçado pois temos planos para tocar com Gamma Ray novamente em 2014 na Europa e Masterplan vem depois do festival Prog Power em Atlanta, então, nós voltaremos em breve .. eu tenho ótimas lembranças !

Rock On Stage: Hoje temos muitos vertentes no Heavy Metal e muita coisa está mudando, o que você mudaria se pudesse no Heavy Metal? E como o você avalia o cenário e chamado de Metal Melódico e Power Metal?
Roland Grapow: Eu acho que os fãs decidem .... Eu reclamo do business e que fazer o download rouba dinheiro de bandas ... mas eu acho que é a vida ... o gosto eu posso mudar de fãs ... mas eu amo o meu gosto e estilo de Masterplan ;)

Rock On Stage: Roland Grapow quem são os guitarristas que inspiraram você a se tornar um guitarrista e como você toca e quais são os cinco maiores álbuns de todos os tempos na sua opinião?
Roland Grapow: Hmm são muitos, como talvez os alemães em primeiro lugar, Uli Roth, Michael Schenker e também Ritchie Blackmore, Eddie Van Halen, John Sykes, Brian May, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix e caras mais jovens. Mas eu amo somente caras que fazem uma banda soar bem .... e não ego então é louco guitarrista ego estúpido de guitarrista.
Os álbuns são: Red Album - Grand Funk, Machine Head - Deep Purple, Demons And Wizards - Uriah Heep, Van Halen, o primeiro, Billy Cobham Spectrum.

Rock On Stage: Como é o Masterplan quando não está em turnê, ou seja, quando não estão diretamente na cena Heavy Metal, quais são seus hobbies? Que tipo de som e faixas costuma ouvir em casa, quais são os filmes e programas de TV que mais gostam?
Roland Grapow: Eu produzi em cinco... seis anos muitas, muitas bandas no meu estúdio ... eu gosto de natureza Thrash Metal e amo Rammstein. Eu amo música que me inspira .. não o mesmo que eu faço ou perto disso. Estou de mente aberta e penso um pouco moderno de alguma forma.

Rock On Stage: O que podemos esperar do Masterplan no futuro?
Roland Grapow: Muito mais álbuns e um monte de turnês e um muita energia positiva. ;)

Rock On Stage: First of all, I would like to ask you about the redesign of the band and what the new members add to Masterplan Music?
Roland Grapow: They add a lot of fresh blood to the band, we have a beautiful line up and chemistry right now with lot of positive feelings.

Rock On Stage: How was the recording Session of your new álbum Novum Initium, what it represents for your discography and what reasons you point that this release are so special?
Roland Grapow: It is so special because of the line up change, but the main songwriters are the same Axel and me... But i love the impact the new members, everyone is a big Masterplan fan and want to present the best for the band.

Rock On Stage: Keep Your Dream Alive band was the first single and you made a clip before the album release, Exist some reason for this track be choose?
Roland Grapow: It is the most single like of songs... you can choose the chachiest one or the most brutal one.... so we choose the chachiest one.

Rock On Stage: What has been the impact of the new album by fans and critics in general?
Roland Grapow: Pretty great and some pretty bad... but we don’t care, a real fan always like the music of his band..

Rock On Stage: If I am sure you, Masterplan did the first concert with new formation in Bang your Head Fest, tell us a little about how it was this presentation?
Roland Grapow: No we did a couple of shows before..but we get better every festival so far...now we finally starting our tour in Europe.

Rock On Stage: You have begun when it bought more music than today, and this time with Mp3 / Facebook / Internet, what do you think has changed in how a band should work to live by music?
Roland Grapow: Hmmm i guess Masterplan started 2003, but it was not the best time but much better than now.... yes it gets harder and harder..i feel the difference in my wallet ; (.

Rock On Stage: You've played in Brazil with Gamma Ray some years ago, and what you remember from our country. some good or funny moments that you have lived here. And a important question, when we see Masterplan playing here again?
Roland Grapow: It is funny..we have plans to play with Gamma Ray again in 2014 in Europe..and Masterplan is coming after the Prog Power festival in Atlanta..so we ar soon back..i have great memories !!!

Rock On Stage: Today we have many strands in Heavy Metal and a lot is changing, what would you change if you could in Heavy Metal? And how do you evaluate the scenario and called Metal Melodic Power Metal?
Roland Grapow: I think the fans decide.... i complain about the business and download stealing money situation from bands...but i guess it is life... the taste i can change from the fans...but i love my taste and style of Masterplan ; )

Rock On Stage: Roland Grapow who are the guitarists that inspire you to become a guitar player and how you play and what are the top five albums of all time in your opinion?
Roland Grapow: mm soooo many, Like maybe the germans first, Uli Roth, Michael Schenker, than Ritchie Balckmore, Eddie Van Halen, John Sykes, Brian May, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and younger guys. But i love only guys which makes a band sounding good.... not crazy stupid ego guitarist.

Rock On Stage: How is the Masterplan when not on tour, when they are not directly in the Heavy Metal scene, what are your hobbies? What kind of sound and bands usually hear at home, what movies and TV shows like more?
Roland Grapow: I produce like 5-6 years many many bands in my studio... i like nature Thrash Metal and love Rammstein. I love music whis is inspiring me..not the same i do or close to my stuff.. I am open minded and think a little modern in some way

Rock On Stage: What we can wait from Masterplan in the future?
Roland Grapow: A lot, more albums and a lot of more touring and a lot of positive energy ; ).
